Corners of My Home

Our living room. This is one of my favorite places to sit and read or listen to Old Time Radio. I found the chair at a local thrift store for $20.00. It is a Montgomery Ward mohair circa 1942. On it is a vintage barkcloth pillow I made and a quilt I got at a garage sale for $5.00. The lamp and table are also thrifted. The curtains are vintage barkcloth (5 panels!) found at a small town antique store. The pictures are just a few of my collection of vintage lithos. These are "Goes" from 1940 era. My furniture does suffer some damage because we have cats with claws. I found some old doilies at Goodwill and sewed them onto the chair to cover the snags.

1940's retro shoes

Another Christmas gift to me: The "Rita" shoe from Bearflag. These may be the most comfortable pair of shoes I own. They are a low wedge and are very flattering. Perfect for running errands during the day. Well, not TOday. But, SOME day. When the snow melts and the temp rises above 60.

Retro Shoes

One of my Christmas gifts from my husband is a new pair of shoes - reproduction of a 1930's style. A good friend recommended these to me. I just received them in the mail and they are very comfy with a low heal. Perfect for every day wear. The soles are suede so I would advise not to wear these in wet/snowy weather, but they are fine to wear on a dry day. Sometimes you can find these on ebay if you choose not to pay full retail price. I got them from:

White Christmas

We are due for more snow tomorrow!

"I love the winter weather
When the two of us can get together
There's nothing sweeter, finer
When it's nice and cold I can hold my baby closer to me
And collect the kisses that are due me
I love the winter weather
Because I've got my love to keep me warm

Take the summer you can have a ball
Take the springtime even the fall
But I guess I like the winter most of all."
